Authors: R.C. Morris Publisher: VBW Publishing Reviewer: Bill McDonald – President of the MWSA A Deranged Serial Killer Loose in Seattle Author R.C. Morris has followed his critically acclaimed debut novel “Don’t Make the Blackbirds Cry” in a triumphant way with his latest thriller mystery “Tender Prey.” It is compelling, tantalizing and filled with complex characters and plot twists. For mystery buffs, they will find this book an intelligent treat and great entertainment. Morris gives us another flawed and troubled main character in Detective Frank Murphy. He is recovering (actually, still falling apart) from the emotional trauma of dealing with the death of his own daughter. He takes on the case of a brutal serial killer and focuses all his energy on it. He has his own personal agenda; he seeks to purge his own inner demons and find some peace. The plot is as good as they get but I think the author has mastered his writing skills when fleshing out his book’s characters. It all fits and works well; even the dialog flows. The book’s plot is fast paced and full of intrigue, mystery and fear. It is a terrific read for all mystery lovers. The MWSA gives this book its highest rating of Five Stars.
