A Pleasant Reading Experience for all!
There are some times you just want to
pick up a light reading book and find some escape from the daily onslaught
of bad news from TV and the newspapers. Maurice “Morrie” Karst has written a
wonderful little book of his life experiences called “Morrie’s
Stories.” It captures a time in our history that most of
today’s younger population has no generational memory of and there are fewer
left to tell us about them each day. This book is like sitting down with
your grandfather and hearing tales of what their lives were like.
How many people have ever worked in a
“soda shop” or blacksmith shop”? These life experiences are not something
people today can relate from their own experiences but certainly there is a
joy in hearing about them from someone who was there and who lived it. The
whole book is a delightful reading adventure for several reasons – one it is
a good retreat from today’s hectic and violent world; and second, it is just
good entertainment. The author never takes himself seriously and his words
follow just like he is talking to you one on one.
What I like about the book is that you
can read it in any order you wish as each little story is from one to 3
pages long and they are all complete stories. It makes a great book for
waiting rooms and when traveling as you can read short little pieces very
easily and digest them as you do other things. There is not much to worry
the heart or the mind, so pick up a copy and take it along with you where
ever you go. It makes a great book to take along on a vacation.
This is a nostalgic journey back into a
time and place that feels warm and tender just reading about. I recommend
buying this book and reading it. Makes a good gift as well.
