Here you will find links to some valuable resources.  This page will remain a work in progress as we will add new resources when we find some worth sharing.  If there is a resource you'd like to share please click here.  Likewise, if you hear about a resource that appears to be "too good to be true," please let us know.  We will socialize it among our most experienced members and see if it is fact or fiction.

We have separated the writing resources into categories to better help you find what you are looking for.  When you contact a resource, please let them know you saw it at the MWSA site!

Authors' Coalition CD

The Authors’ Coalition CD is a cross-promotional project, which will provide
participating authors with exposure in book fairs, conferences, trade shows
and other events across the country. Currently, AC plans to distribute copies
of the CD at the UCLA/LA Times Book Festival in Los Angeles, Book Expo America
in New York City, Women’s Veterans Event in Branson, MO, Military Vehicle
Preservation Society Conference, Little Rock, AR, West Hollywood Book Festival,
LA, Veterans Week Event, Branson and other smaller events. Participants are
encouraged to make additional copies of the CD to distribute at their individual events as well.

Each participant will receive 10 copies of the cd for his or her own
purposes. If a participant wants additional copies, there will be a small fee.

Each participant must agree that the material that he/she provides can be
copied and freely disseminated. (explain the value of cross promotion here?) A
statement to this effect must accompany the submission of these materials.
The price to participate in this program is $200.00
Please contact Carolyn at HOJONEWS@aol.com for additional information.

Carolyn Howard-Johnson's advice in The Frugal Book Promoter is like having your own private tutor, writing coach, PR person, English teacher, salesman of the year, marketing agent and, once you've talked to her, cheerleader, all rolled into one. They ought to bottle her energy and sell it. I'll take ten bottles. Uh ... Make that twenty.

WORLD WAR II CONSULTANT: Looking for a WWII expert for your project?  I was a rifleman with the Third Infantry Division on the Anzio beach-head, in the first wave of the landing in southern France (where I was wounded), and in the Vosges and Colmar Pocket campaigns. I have the Bronze Star and Purple Heart. As Professor of History at Illinois State University, Normal, I taught a popular course on World War II. I review books for THE JOURNAL OF MILITARY HISTORY. I am available to serve as a consultant, providing historical accuracy and authenticity of combat and army life during the war. I charge $100 to read and comment on a book manuscript (fiction or non-fiction) or screenplay. Anything more than that is negotiable with the author or screenwriter.    Earl A. Reiton

The Coming Home Project

The Coming Home Project is a non-profit organization devoted to providing compassionate care, support and stress management tools for Iraq and Afghanistan veterans and their families. We are a group of veterans, psychotherapists and interfaith leaders committed to helping transform the wounds of war. We help veterans and family members rebuild the connectivity of mind, heart, body and spirit that combat trauma can unravel; renew their relationships with loved ones; and create new support networks. We build a safe space – a community -- for veterans and their families to come together and share their stories, struggles and accomplishments. Single veterans are also most welcome.

Stand Down was founded by two veterans with a vision to help their comrades who are struggling, who have lost their homes, their dignity, and their ability to lead productive lives.

Stand Down is a multi tiered program that assists and supports male veterans who are struggling with addiction and have become homeless as a result of that struggle.

We believe that healing can happen with proper support and by learning more about Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. PTSD not only affects the survivor of trauma, but family members, and those around us as well. There is support for all of us here.
